We can deploy and operate a publically available DIR server (either in our own colo or ideally in collaboration with a CA, ISP or Telco partner) that anyone can obtain DIR service from on a subscription basis. This could cover users who don’t work for an organization that provide DIR service. This would enable our various apps for individual use. This DIR server could provide a number of “common” domain names that users could choose from.
This could also be used to host DIR service for organizations, using their own domain names.
A single DIR server can provide service for any number of Internet domain names, and any number of users for any domain, limited only by the network, storage and computational capabilities of the server. Multiple servers could be run with load balancers and failover (and possibly crypto accelerators) to handle particularly large numbers of customers.
