Luxembourg November 14, 2019 – The IPv6 Forum has established in 2018 the New Internet IPv6 Hall of Fame to recognize and celebrate the experts and evangelists of IPv6 who have made extraordinary contributions to the design and large-scale deployment of IPv6 around the world.
The New Internet IPv6 Hall of Fame was kicked-off in 2018 in Nanjing at the GNTC Conference organized by the China IPv6 Council coordinated by the BII Group with the first IPv6 Hall of Famers: Dr Vint Cerf, VP and Internet Evangelist at Google and Honorary Chair of the IPv6 Forum since its creation; Dr. Wu Hequan, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and Dr. Jun Murai, Father of the Internet in Japan and Founder of the IPv6 Promotion Council.
The 2019 IPv6 Hall of Famers are a very balanced mix of IPv6 Experts, IPv6 Evangelists, IPv6 Large-scale Deployers, IPv6 Trainers and IPv6 Ready Logo Program experts.
The names, pictures, and bios of the 2019 IPv6 Hall of Famers can be viewed on the web site: http://www.ipv6halloffame.org/
“The IPv6 Forum is very blessed and proud to have attracted and won some of the finest and top IPv6 pioneers, experts and genuine volunteers around the world, quoting Vint Cerf, to upgrade the Internet from a “Research” Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4) to a “Production” Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) to sustain the growth of the Internet to include everyone and connect any sensible device” stated Latif Ladid, IPv6 Forum President
The prime objective of the IPv6 Forum and its members is to promote deployment and coordinated uptake of the new Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) with support from industry, education, research communities, and government agencies enabling equitable access to technology and knowledge.
“I am very proud to have been nominated and selected among these finest IPv6 experts and evangelists with my contributions in IPv6 research, development, and training ” stated Mr. Lawrence Hughes, New Internet IPv6 Hall of Famer and co-founder and Chief Scientist of Sixscape Communications.
The Internet World has been using the Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4) for the last three decades. Despite its tremendous success, IPv4 is showing signs of strain especially in its depleted IP address space and its growing security concerns. IPv6 preserves everything good in today’s Internet, and adds much more, such as virtually unlimited IP address space to connect everyone and everything, stateless auto-configuration, seamless mobility, automated network management, end to end security and new optional service levels.
